The essence of scientific work is dealing with literature. The IfK library is well stocked with various publications in the field of communications and media sciences. In addition, the IfK has compiled a comprehensive press archive.

The IfK library is stocked with some 47000 volumes and bound magazines, as well as 200 scientific periodicals. The books are sorted in about 40 different sections, such as press history, advertising/PR, journalism, communication and society, new information technologies. There are several PCs available to browse the online library catalogues.
Books from the IfK library (maximum of three) can be lent over the weekend during the semester, and for a maximum of one week during the holidays. Books from the archive (indexed "Archiv") must be ordered at least one day in advance. This can be done personally or by phone or e-mail.
The book signatures in the IfK library contain roman numerals. This Wikipedia entry provides a quick overview for those unfamiliar with this numeric system.
The library offers various database research facilities (i.e. the "TV rating report" and the "Datenbank Publizistik und Massenkommunikation") on the PCs in the library and the CIP-pool.
Saftey measures
For your own safety, it is prohibited to leave bags, jackets etc. in the corridors and the entrance area of the library. Please use the lockers (2 Euro deposit) in the foyer. Please contact the fire safety representative of the building if you have any questions concerning these measures.
