Studio

The IfK's practical media classes are usually held in the studio. It is equipped with recording technology and cameras, and the audio and video editing workstations can be used to produce radio and television material. The studio assistants organise the lending of equipment, explain their usage and help with the production of audio and video material.

Overview

Technical Equipment: audio and video recording equipment

The studio is equipped with analog and digital audio recording equipment, for video recording, S-VHS and Mini-DV cameras are available. This equipment can be be borrowed for use in classes or other university work (practical media classes, interviews etc). The cameras are requested frequently, so please make your reservation well in advance.

Technical equipment for editing

All recordings can be edited at the studio. Video editing can be done on an Apple Macintosh with Adobe Premiere, audio editing in a radio recording studio with Cutmaster Pro. As editing usually takes more time than anticipated, we recommend getting in touch with the studio staff as early as possible in order to reserve an editing workstation.

Video archive

The studio has a relatively comprehensive video archive with movies and clips on various topics. These can be borrowed from the studio assistants and then edited, for example for presentations. There are two video/TV units and two tape recorders available for use in classes.

Studio assistants

The studio assistants are responsible for reservation, lending and maintenance of equipment and media. They provide support during editing sessions and give technical introductions for the various recording devices and cameras.
